Follow-up Comment #9, bug #63876 (project octave):
I don't know what exactly pulls in openssl as a dependency. It might be pacman
(via some other packages)?
Anyway, I don't know if you can delete it. Do you have the necessary
permissions? If you do, you'll probably find out if something starts failing
for you.
Anyway, all of this is starting to appear very theoretical if the only aim you
have is trying to appease some third-party tool...
