@Pantxo:  Good point.  But don't we still need to define the "turn_hold_off"
variable in that IF block?  I didn't add that variable and it is used later in
the function.

Could you (or someone) commit the change you proposed with a modification that
preserves turn_hold_off?  Thanks!
