Follow-up Comment #8, bug#65018 (group octave):

@Rik: I have recently run the "run_test_suite" of the Octave 9.0.90 release
candidate excessivle on the very same laptop that I used for comment #0 to
comment #5 in this issue. The results can be seen in bug #65277, and there
were no test failures observed at all. So I would conclude that this issue
here is resolved in Octave 9.0.90 (at least for the linux laptop I originally
used in this bug report).

@Dmitri: A short time ago, my linux laptop used to file this bug report "died"
suddenly. So unfortunatelly I will not be able to re-run or check things on my
"original" laptop. But I do not remember to ever use some special mount
options of the laptop, it was a standard installation of Ubuntu 20.04 with
some additional software installed on it lateon. The fstab line for my system
partition (with Octave on it) was the following on my dead laptop:
UUID=10b02a-more-numbers /  ext4  errors=remount-ro 0  1
