More and more Windows newsreaders and commercial NNTP servers are
implementing some kind of header compression. This may speed up header
downloads tremendously.
Giganews has its proprieraty Accelerator, which is supported by their
own (Windows) proxy software, but supposedly there is an "open"
implementation as well, called XZVER.
Here's an article from Astraweb's helpdesk that describes it:
http://helpdesk.astraweb.com/index.php?_m=news&_a=viewnews&newsid=9
How hard would it be to implement this in Pan?
Failing support, does anyone know of Linux based NNTP proxies/accelerators
that support/translate XZVER?
Thanks,
Pim
