Never would I have imagined that you would add a special charater
(such as space) to the --return filename - at most I imagined you
would have the special character in {}.

The bug is fixed in the current git version.
$ rm /tmp/foo*
$ ls /tmp/foo*
ls: cannot access /tmp/foo*: No such file or directory
$ touch /tmp/foo
$ parallel -S .. --trc '{} bar' echo '>{}\ bar' ::: /tmp/foo
$ ls /tmp/foo*
/tmp/foo /tmp/foo bar
