[Protux-devel] starting mixer engine

I've got one special problem running protux:

when I press <space> or <R><space> to play song "mixer
engine cannot be started" raised.
BUT artsd, esd etc. doesn't run on my system
(SuSE8.0) of course nothing uses /dev/dsp

relevant debug output:
