what does it give when you run
$ automake -a
alone ?
it should give:
address@hidden:~/mustuxlib$ automake -a
configure.ac: installing `./install-sh'
configure.ac: installing `./mkinstalldirs'
configure.ac: installing `./missing'
Makefile.am: installing `./depcomp'
