Thanks for proofreading this.

I'll attend to each of your individual comments soon.  In the
meantime, unless you've got any objections, I'll push the patch now
to master, and commit corrections as I deal with each issue.  That way
it's easier to keep track of what's been fixed, and what hasn't.
