I assume (from your email address) that you are interested in Brazilian
Portuguese (pt_BR) rather than Portugeuse (pt).
Looking at http://translationproject.org/domain/pspp.html I see that
there is an existing pt_BR translation, but it looks as if it hasn't been
updated for some time, and can use some help.
Michel Almada de Castro Boaventura is the most recent person to have worked
on it. He is a member of this list, so I think he can show you how to start.
In the mean time, I suggest that you read the information at
