Hi,

Where did the image come from? How was it made?
If the disk image with the hfs file system is made from a complete volume (not only from a partition as created and used in e.g., SheepShaver), and the image contains at least Mac OS 9.0.4 with rom 5.2.1, then qemu-system-ppc should boot from it.
