Depending on what you want to run it might work or need some more work.
qemu-system-ppc64 -machine mac99 should be able to run Linux but won't
boot MacOS X or MorphOS. Another part that might need some fixing apart
from machine emulation is OpenBIOS which does not correctly describe the
G5 mac99 machine so OSes that rely on it may get confused. The actual Mac
ROM does not run as it needs more hardware to be emulated.
The reasons for no progress is not technical just nobody has time for it
so nobody cared to do anything with it. If you want to try fixing it I
