Actually, I was only half joking. I still stand on my point that
writing a project with 94% of scripts and 6% of C is a technical
non-sense. If backup-files had been a shell script to start with,
none of you would ask for it to be rewritten in C.

This may be true of "quilt push", but not quite so for other
commands.
