I understand your pain, myself as user, I'd sometimes like to know this
information, but the problem is that rdiff-backup just doesn't know, it starts
and iterates through the items until it's finished (it doesn't create a list
as it might use too much memory). If you still wish this, feel free to
re-create an issue at https://github.com/rdiff-backup/rdiff-backup/issues but
don't expect a quick resolution (if at all).
