[rdiff-backup-users] python 2.2 required?

Hi List,

i was wondering if I really need python 2.2 for rdiff-backup.

I want to use it on a redhat 7.3 production system and
the latest rpm for rh7.3 is python 1.5.2. Is this a problem?

I could update to the actual rawhide package but this involves updating more 
packages. As a said its a production
system and I only want to change as least as possible.
