When you work as non-root on the backup-server, then ownership will have
to be changed on the backup-server. The "backup" user on the backup-server
cannot store files having other owners.

rdiff-backup remembers what the owner of the original file was on the
origin server, so if you restore the files to the origin server, then they
should regain their proper ownership. There isn't a problem, so there is
no simple solution.
