Hi there. Thanks earlier errors were quite silly to get solved fast. Anyways after taking the first backup, which went fine and exceptionally fast ,80gb in an hour. But when i went for the second backup, without actually adding something to the HDD,just a plain 2nd run, following errors, and the backup wouldn't finish.I mean the cursor kept on blinking even though there was nothing to transfer to the backup drive. http://pastebin.com/m21706ea2 I guess its trying to copy files from trash, thats fine, i get it. But why are these files tried to be copied twice. And secondly why the backup is ON when there is nothing to transfer.
Well, the previous backup didn't succeed, as rdiff-backup said on the first line:
Previous backup seems to have failed, regressing destination now.
You should exclude your .Trash-1000 folder -- clearly your desktop manager manipulates many files behind the scenes. This would also explain why rdiff-backup had work to do even though you thought "there is nothing to transfer".
Finally, the cursor probably "kept on blinking" because rdiff-backup was still working. It needed to regress the backup destination due to a failed previous backup, which is an operation that can take a long time.
