Okay if you have a look at the increments directory inside rdiff-backup-data you will find a .diff file which contains the difference between the two versions created by the rsync algorithm rdiff-backup uses to keep the most minimal amount of data.

Just spent an hour unsuccessfully testing rdiff-backup with an obvious and EXTREMELY simple task...
Create a text file. Save it. Run rdiff-backup. Modify the text file. Save it. Run rdiff-backup. Look at the two versions with a text editor.
I used the --no-compression argument, but can't seem to find a way to avoid the the restoration process of the .diff version files, and just keep the versioned text files as text files!
Am i missing somenthing, or do i have to go through a restore process to to even take a peek at the text in two versions of a text file?
