Hi,
as some of you have signaled that they have large deployments of
rdiff-backup, an automated way to deploy rdiff-backup might be useful.
It can also hide some of the complexity of the installation, once it's
been fine tuned.
The collection can be grabbed from:
https://galaxy.ansible.com/rdiffbackup/rdiff_backup
And is maintained at:
https://github.com/rdiff-backup/rdiff-backup-ansible
If someone with Ansible knowledge, or willing to learn it, wants to lead
the maintenance, I would be more than happy to support him or her.
For now, the installation works on the recent versions of the mainstream
Linux distros, for which rdiff-backup is packaged by this team, and for
Windows 2019/10.
Introducing some fall-back installation approaches using the package
and/or pip modules would be the next logical step.
Installing/Configuring an SSH client on Windows could also be an
interesting add-on. [1]
If we don't speak until then and if it represents something to you,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Gregorian Year.
KR, Eric
