Details:

CFITSIO 3.47 has been recently released
<https://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/FTP/software/fitsio/c/docs/changes.txt>. 

Following my communication with its authors, the good news is that they have
finally moved to standard naming conventions (where the version is in tarball
and unpacked folder name). This greatly simplifies our build rules for CFITSIO
which I am now busy implementing in the template...
