I got a little further.

I found a nice post that dealt with this issue 
(http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/rule-list/2003-01/msg00014.html).  

The problem now is that when I run /mnt/floppy/setup_pcmcia.sh  I get a 
bunch of this kind of error messages:

cp: unable to open '/etc/pcmcia/{name_of_file}': No space left on device

apparently the ramdisk size is too small, or something like that.

How to fix that problem?
