Hello,
Is there any reason why directory indexes are forbidden at nongnu.org?
(and also at gnu.org/software/* in general?)
This user suggests it is inconvenient and could be activated.

There is not a particular reason why it is disabled. I think it just
came with the default paranoid settings. I suggest consulting with the
webmasters on this subject.
