here is a (very small) patch for screen-4.0.2 to re-enable HPUX support
which seems to broke since HPUX 11.00.
The issue has been reported several times on the mailing list:

In case the patch doesn't go through well on the mailing list, it
consists of:
1. In "configure", line 1464, replace the code with:
int
main ()
{
 
tgetent((char *)0, (char *)0);
 
  ;
  return 0;
}

2. In "termcap.c", in e_tgetent, line 1337, after  r = tgetent(bp,
name);, add:
#ifdef hpux
  /* on hpux - tgetent returns 0 if OK, -1 otherwise */
  if (r == 0)
    r=1;
  else
    r=0;
#endif
 
Tested OK on HPUX 11.23/IA64.
