Details:

Summary:  Feature works correctly on current screen builds and tags up to
v4.5.1.

In the 4.99.0 however, after detaching a screen and attempting to reattach
with:

./screen -x screenname

The output is:

can't open passwd file
can't open passwd file
can't open passwd file

It's either something to do with seteuid() or perhaps the fact that the screen
storage directory changed to ~/.screen.

The build process used was identical between v4.5.1 and v4.99.0.

I have tested and have reproduced this problem on:
- Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS
- Ubuntu 16.04   LTS
