Note that buffer overflows are typically things that might not be reproducible
everywhere. For such kinds of bugs, one should check with tools like valgrind
(though it might not detect such issues everywhere). One should also test by
compiling with options like -fsanitize=undefined -fno-sanitize-recover
(there's also -fsanitize=address).
