Can i start working on my project *now*?

Hi,

i've written my application and will submit it very soon through
Melange.  Due to some University circumstances i'd like to start
working sooner than the Google timeline specifies: I want to start
*now* - yes, before accepted students are announced.  Are you ok with
this?  I hope this won't cause any formal problems...
