Check out Van Parunak's papers at
http://www.erim.org/~vparunak/papers.htm#ABM. In particular the papers:
"Agent-Based Modeling vs. Equation-Based Modeling: A Case Study and Users'
Guide"
and
"Distinguishing Environmental and Agent Dynamics: A Case Study in
Abstraction and Alternate Modeling Technologies"

Please respond
to
swarm-modelling
Hi
i have just started out with agent based
modeling...and have a number of questions..some of
which i am are
1. what are the assumptions on which a typical agent
based model rests.
2. how does the results from this technique compare
with other simulation techniques.
3. what are the advantages and disavantages of
agent-based modeling...in other words what is it that
is so great and bad about agent-based modeling...
i have read some material available on this on the net
particularly the article why agents by Robert
axtell...is there some material available on the web
that compares top-down and bottom up approaches more
vividly..i am a system dynamics guy...and have been
not able to appreciate the differences too well
could somebody give me some pointers where i get
related material.
Thanks
