Hello Nicolas,

Thanks much for your feedback :)  I have been doing the majority of my
testing by running tiger by hand.  Now that I see why you submitted your
patch, I believe the check in general is bad.  To answer your question,
yes your patch works fine on SuSE, but only because the tty statement
prevents it from being run via cron.  (After re-reading the mesg man
page, this only makes sense).  Unfortunately, I do have a requirement to
verify that mesg is not enabled for UID-0 users, so I will probably have
to re-impliment this check by verifying mesg n in in the shell startup
scripts.
