Tramp 2.0.x is the stable version. Tramp 2.1.x is the developpers
version, which might be weaker. Nevertheless, applying Tramp 2.1, and
reporting problems, will help to stabilize it. And new features will
go only there.

Oops. I forgot to mention that you should set tramp-verbose to
10 at the beginning. This will result in more information.
Could you, please, rerun the test?
