Yep, this rat entered last stable Tramp. Sorry for this.
You can see a discussion and a possible workaround at
<http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.emacs.tramp/3337>. Will be fixed in
next Tramp 2.0.53, maybe I put it also in the XEmacs packages CVS
before that release.
