I have put together an initial proposed set of Hiragana, Katakana, and
Halfwidth Katakana glyphs for the next unifont_jp release. Please
scroll down to the "Release Notes" section of
http://unifoundry.com/unifont/index.html, where I have added the
subsection "Planned Changes for unifont_jp" under the "Unifont 13.0"
section. That subsection contains a table with links to the new and
old glyphs for comparison.

The dakuten and handakuten shapes are not consistent. Any
recommendation on a standard version to pick? I think having one
pixel of separation between the two dakuten strokes looks clearer, but
the Izumi Hiragana glyphs do not have that.

Also, I drew U+309F (HIRAGANA DIGRAPH YORI). If it exists in the
Izumi font, please let me know--I did not see it. I tried to match
the style of the Izumi Hiragana glyphs.

I would like to get feedback on the proposed changes from anyone who
reads and writes Japanese before changing the glyphs in unifont_jp.

Thank you,

Paul Hardy
