Compilation problem when trying to install gprolog on Cygwin |

I am running Cygwin under windows 2000.
I downloaded the gprolog-1.2.16.tar.gz source file for gprolog, and attempted
to install it, following the instructions in the INSTALL file.
%configure
worked ok.
%make
resulted in the following error:
gplc -c -C '-O3 ' obj_begin.c
gcc: cannot specify -o with -c or -S and multiple compilations
This obviously causes the '%make install' command fail as well.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens?
Thanks,
Mark
