Details:
how about a split-screen scrollback? (check the mudix MUD client for
example). Where you can still see what's going in the channel while scrolling
back.
[07:46] Navi > FlashCode: I can explain an example of that. Just pretend
that you've split the weechat window horizontally, where the top buffer is
scrollback and the bottom buffer is the current discussion
[07:47] Navi > This way, you can scroll through scrollback without getting
behind on the current conversation

The upper half screenshot depicts the mudix MUD client where I'm in the
middle of scrolling back. The lower half still shows the *current*
conversation/state.
