I think the library that `configure' can't find is libXrender:
address@hidden /usr/lib/libXrender.a | grep XRenderParseColor
00000000 T XRenderParseColor
I don't use RedHat, but I had a look at
XFree86-devel-4.2.1-21.i386.rpm, and this includes Xrender.h and
libXrender.a.
