Actually, it probably isn't quite correct to say that I get to where I exited 
before.  I get to a scene only seconds away, where Banec is talking to the 
innkeeper, and the innkeeper is saying "Your employer, eh? Who might that 
be?"  If I follow through to where Banec enters, and everyone is in the 
courtyard, THEN press <Escape>, I get the menu.  Perhaps it is my fault for 
giving up so soon!
