Okay, I got an answer:

They don't want marvellous productions, and this short deadline is
absolutely what they wanted. So they do not plan to remove it. They said
we can still build another game using our engine, but well, I for
myself prefer giving up and working on 0.4.

But since I'm a bitch, I'll argue that we all have an old never released
project started a long time ago and that nothing prevents someone to get
it out and claim they did it in 3 months! :)

Still, I fear there is little chance we can compete. So bad! It would
have been so fun.
