At this point, I would have to see the configure file (or at least the
relevant portion around the point where the error message occurs, about
touch not liking -b).  But seeing as how the report was about building
emace, this may be something where you are better off asking on an emacs
list.  Or maybe this is tickling a bug in the user's shell; do they have
an alternate shell, like bash, installed, where they can use
CONFIG_SHELL=path/to/sh path/to/sh ./configure to overcome it?
