Follow-up Comment #3, patch #7604 (project avrdude):
Joerg: I totally agree. I wasn't certain on the -x extended parameter, but it
is logical, since this is very specific to the programmer. I will change the
patch over to use -x, and move the functionality into wiring.c instead. This
will leave stk500v2.c pristine other than the exposure of getsync() and
drain() (non-static).
David: Once I get the parameter properly implemented, I'll see what I can do
for Arduino.
