Your bug report will be posted to the AUCTeX bug reporting list.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I create an arbitraty TeX file with information for RefTeX, and
when I close it, RefTeX asks me for the encoding it should use to safe
the *.rel file. This happened for a while, probably since I have utf in
my /etc/passwd, and I didn't notice what was going on until today I had
a very small document and could see which file this was about.

This is how the .rel file starts:

**********************
;; RefTeX parse info file
;; File: /home/frank/Privat/Krawattenknoten.tex
;; User: frank (Frank Küster)

(set reftex-docstruct-symbol '(

(xr nil "\\\\\\\\\\\\")
**********************

(and now it wants to know the encoding to use for ¼). No idea whether
this is an Emacs or RefTeX problem. If you help me, I'll explain to you
how to make a Double Windsor (if not, also, in case you need it. I've
got a job interview tomorrow...).

Regards, Frank
