Sorry, I'm not versed into D-Bus communications (thanks to you I just
discovered there is a command to monitor sent messages :-).  You first
reported that Atril accepted almost the same syntax as Evince, apart
the last argument in `TeX-evince-sync-view-1', then you noticed that
the syntax had changed for that argument, is it possible that there
have been other changes?

You can also try to edebug the changed functions, like
`TeX-evince-dbus-p', `TeX-evince-sync-view-1', and
`TeX-source-correlate-mode'.
