Thread::OnPolling

I am using a Linux (posix) system, with the latest version of 
CommonC++. I have created a class that inherits from Thread, as part of 
the run method it uses the 'poll' system call to sleep until data is 
ready to be read from a device, is there a way to have OnPolling called 
when this happens. I can't seem to get it to work. I would really 
apreciate any help.
