I'm happy to announce the availability of findutils version 4.2.2 at
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/findutils. The NEWS file for this release
says :-
* Major changes in release 4.2.2
** Documentation improvements
*** "find ... -exec {}+" is not yet supported.
** Bug Fixes
*** Fixed compilation problems on Solaris, RedHat EL AS 2.1, Irix, AIX
*** Work around possible compiler bug on HP-UX 11.23 for ia64
*** The built-in internationalisation support now works again.
** Other Changes
*** We now import the gnulib source in the way it is intended to be used,
which means among other things that we only have one config.h file
now.
*** Functions which findutils requires but which are not present in
gnulib are now defined in "libfind.a". This is in the lib
directory, while gnulib is in the gnulib subdirectory.
*** Fixed a typo in the address of the FSF in many of the file headers.
The following entries from the Savannah bug database have been
resolved by the upload of this release:-
#9465 Deprecated usage of trap in locate/updatedb.sh
#10560 gl_XALLOC not found when running configure
#10701 find needs fnmatch sanitycheck on startup
#10757 POSIX conformance claims in find.1 man page
In addition to the list of bugs above, there have been a number of
portability fixes that allow findutils to build on platforms it had
recently not been compiling on (for example some versions of HP-UX,
AIX, Irix, Solaris and Red Hat Linux, as mentioned in the NEWS file
extract above).
