I'll revert the change. Probably early next week. If I have time I'll
try to pull something out to report to the grep people.

Alexandre - not sure what to tell you about upgrading to gawk 4.1.4.
I will fix this problem in git. Once I do so, you could build a custom
version off the gawk-4.1-stable branch and include that, if you wish.
Or else just stay at 4.1.3 until we make the next gawk release.
