Follow-up Comment #7, sr #108887 (project gettext):

Would it help if msgfmt, in Desktop Entry mode, would verify that translations
of 'Icon' values point to existing files? To this effect, msgfmt would need to
have option that specifies a list of directories, in which to search for the
icons.
