Maybe if it was easy for the maintainer to change the status to closed
right with the answer message, that burden wouldn't be too large?  It
could be just one keypress which inserts the right magic into the
email.

Then the maintainers could write "please try this patch", and then hit
the `close report' key...

But of course, setting this up also requires some effort.

Of course, the status needs to be updated.
