As the founder and leader of the GNU Project, I've been asking people
since around 1994 to please call the system GNU/Linux.

I don't see why that should make a big difference.  Calling the system
"Linux" was never right, and it's better to correct it late than
never.  But for whatever difference it makes, the request came pretty
early.
