Hi,

The cpio 2.4.2 rmt tool fails to build on my system. I run the following
software:
- Linux 2.4.2
- GCC 2.95.2
- GNU Make 3.79.1
- GNU ld 2.10 (with BFD 2.10)
- glibc 2.1.3

The build fails like this (all that is not shown compiles fine, without
warnings):

I'm sorry if it's not a bug in cpio. I never had problems compiling other
(GNU) software on my (x86) system, and I couldn't find anyone who could
solve my problem. That's why I mail this to this address (some kind of a
last resort measure).

If necessary, the full ./configure and make logs, and the cpio package I
used can be downloaded from http://n8w8.wox.org/cpio/

Thanks in advance for any help!
