gphoto2 fails to compile

Can you help me get this to compile?

Environment: FreeBSD 4.4 Release

cvs -d :pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/gphoto login
cvs -d :pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/gphoto -z3 co gphoto2



Problem:
% make
Making all in libgphoto2_port
Making all in po
Making all in intl
make: don't know how to make address@hidden@a. Stop
*** Error code 1

Stop in /Nfs/kahuna/home/sdn/p/lib/writeups/GPHOTO/gphoto2/libgphoto2_port.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /Nfs/kahuna/home/sdn/p/lib/writeups/GPHOTO/gphoto2.
