Greetings.
I'm including gettext 0.11.x as part of gawk, and am trying to stay
current.
Gawk is ported to systems besides just Unix & Linux, many of which have
limitations in their file name characters.
In particular, my VMS porter notes about these files:
>>> po/Makefile.in.in
>>> po/address@hidden
>>> po/address@hidden
That there are three different tar readers for VMS that do different
things with these files. He also notes:

Is it possible to stick to names that use a-z, 0-9, dash and underscore?
Also a single period? Makefile.in.in could just as easily be Makefile_in.in,
for example.
Much thanks,
Arnold Robbins
