I built a copy and tried it out - it's a nice option for people
who are learning (it would have been very useful to me not so long
ago). I've just committed it to the current branch (only the current
branch, not the 0.13 stable branch).

I suspect that it's possiblle to use the gnubg.gtkrc file to select
the colour for the box, but I'd leave that to someone who knows - I
can't find documentation which tells me what I can use in a gtkrc file
(or how to relate a setting to a particular window or group of
windows. Joern or Oystein probably can tell you how to do this.
