hai,
I am on redhat 9 with dual boot (Win XP). I want to add one full
partition(empty) to another partition. So I have /share of 20GB which i
am not using. So I want to add that to /home partition.
In this process I used parted and removed that /share with minor number
6. Now i am not able to find where that memory is gone and not able to
resize /home. Here I am giving some info about the sizes I found after I
removed the /share.
Using parted:
============
(parted) rm 6
(parted) print
Disk geometry for /dev/hda: 0.000-76293.945 megabytes
Disk label type: msdos
Minor Start End Type Filesystem Flags
1 0.031 20002.807 primary ntfs boot
2 20002.808 30004.211 primary ext3
3 30004.211 32004.492 primary linux-swap
4 32004.492 76293.061 extended lba
5 51003.268 76293.061 logical ext3
(parted)
After removing the /share:
=====================
address@hidden root]# fdisk -l
Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80000000000 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9726 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 2550 20482843+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 2551 3825 10241437+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda3 3826 4080 2048287+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda4 4081 9726 45351495 f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5 6503 9726 25896748+ 83 Linux
address@hidden root]#
I din't understand what is that /dev/hda5 4081 9726 45351495 f Win95
Ext'd (LBA) mean really.
Any suggestions regarding this are appriciated.
Thanks in advance.
